LapSurgery Australia surgeons perform a large number of colonic and rectal resections each year for both benign and malignant (cancerous) disease.

All of the surgeons at LapSurgery Australia are well-trained and highly experienced in colorectal surgery. In line with both local and international trends, surgeons are becoming more specialised in certain areas such as colorectal surgery. All surgeons will continue to perform routine colonic operations but some of the more specialised procedures will be dealt with only by the two main colorectal surgeons, Mr Ray McHenry and Professor Bruce Waxman.

The main specialised areas which will be dealt with by the colorectal surgeons are:

  • Tumours of the lower part of the rectum

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease)

  • Ileal and colonic pouch surgery

  • Faecal incontinence

  • Complicated perianal disease such as fistula

  • Complicated colonoscopy procedures

  • Stapled haemorrhoidectomy

  • Laparoscopic colorectal surgery (in conjunction with Mr Chris Hensman)

Special Colorectal Clinics are held at LapSurgery Australia each week.

Referrals must come from your general practitioner, gastroenterologist or other appropriate specialist.

More information will be provided on this web page over the coming months.
